Biography
Born: October 28 (welcome to send
gifts)
I first got the itch to
play drums quite by accident. I was in my first year of college and
wandered into one of the music rooms. There I sat down on a drum set
for the very first time, HB pencils in hand, and started to whack
away. One of the college drummers heard me and thought that I had
been playing for years. After explaining I didn’t know what I was
doing, he told me to go and rent a kit because I had a gift. Two months later I was in a band, Forefront and a couple years later I had my first recording experience with a group called Lost N’ Found. I was fortunate enough to be selected to attend the Grant MacEwan jazz program. After being humbled for two years, I left for the Canadian west coast. While out there, I had the opportunity to play in a bunch of different applications. Musicals, dramas, rock shows, intimate 3 people in attendance shows, not to mention some of the more "pressure" shows such as playing for musicals and drama productions with a hundred piece orchestra a few dozen times is always a great learning curve, I also had a steady gig for 3 years where most of the time you are required to sight read on the spot with no rehearsal time all while playing to a couple thousand people which will do great for anyone’s nervous system. I had my own band, OWB, a progressive rock band, for over five years and we played across Western Canada before moving across the pond to Switzerland. Over the past year, I have been able to play with a number of local musicians in live and studio sessions. |
